4 Ways to Switch Up Your Home Deco for 2022

4 Ways to Switch Up Your Home Deco for 2022

The experts agree: safe and plain is out, bold and interesting is in for the interior design landscape!

After a long period of staying indoors, many of us have developed a newfound appreciation for our indoor spaces and how it is an extension of our personalities. With work-from-home arrangements becoming increasingly common, spelling even more time in the foreseeable future being spent at home, it’s the perfect time to really pull out the stops and start getting wild with personalisation.

Whether you’re researching ideas for a brand-new space or looking to spruce up an existing one, we have got some tips for you:

1. Think in uncommon hues

Bright, bold colours are in again, with Pantone announcing Very Peri as the colour of the year for 2022 – but as you may have guessed, it’s the extraordinary and rarely-explored colours that are coming to the forefront in the latest wave of design trends. We’re talking about colours such as burgundy, saffron, and mustard that could add depth and a whole new dimension of expression.

When you find yourself picking colours for your interiors this year, try picking something that’s unique and interesting rather than safe and common – you might surprise yourself with the results!

Delight in Portino Naturalz’s smoky shades of grey.

2. Play around with patterns

It’s time to retire blank, empty surfaces and start trying out some trendy textures. Just like colours, you can also mix and match patterns – even contrasting ones – to create really stunning effects!

When it comes to floor and wall tiles, you can’t go wrong with playing around with different tile sizes. Functionally, pairing square-sized tiles like Naturalz with conventional-sized tiles like Pedregal can help separate one area from the next, and you could get really creative with uncommon tile sizes, such as ZR Barnwood’s plank-like dimensions. 3. Get some flower power

The rise of the Grandmillennial and biophilic design trends have converged to revive an old classic: the floral print.

While at one point, floral prints were seen as old-fashioned, the appreciation for retro styles have also brought back our collective appreciation for the fine craftsmanship that go into these beautiful pieces. And in a rapidly changing world, the nostalgia of these pieces also provides a sense of familiarity and comfort that is calming to the soul.

While floral prints might have been seen as avant-garde at best or kitschy at worst in the previous decade, in the new 20’s, it defines a bold new way of living.

4. Go loud on your floors and walls

Traditionally, one would opt to keep the floors and walls neutral so that pops of colour can be added through furniture or decorative pieces that can be easily swapped out. But keeping in theme with going bold with our choices this year, try going extra loud on your floors and walls to really make a statement.

For a grand statement, we just can’t get enough of the scale of Vogue Grande. If you have more of a creative soul and love to be a bit more hands-on, consider Muzze-Da’s mosaic tiles that can be configured into anything you can dream up.
