How to Create Positive Energy with Interior Design

How to Create Positive Energy with Interior Design

Much has been said about the power of positivity, but did you know that it’s not all just in your head? Besides the internal work, there are also steps you can take to change your external environment to facilitate the flow of positive energy around your space.

For those familiar with Eastern culture, you might also know of Feng Shui – the art of decorating to achieve harmony and balance. Believe it or not, the positivity movement borrows many cues from this ancient practice, and it all boils down to creating a space that works to energize your lifestyle, rather than against it.

For starters, here are some of our tips on how you can create positive energy with interior design:

1. Declutter your space

It may seem like a small thing, but coming into a room that’s filled with clutter adds background stress that saps away at your energy. While clutter does inevitably build up as a by-product of living, it’s a good practice to incorporate decluttering into your routine and put things away in their designated spaces, making way for positivity and calmness.

Beyond avoiding accidental slips and trips, decluttering also affords the additional benefit of uninterrupted sightlines, which puts your mind at ease. Imagine clearing all your unused stuff away so you can properly appreciate the seamless patterns on Vogue Grande on your floor or wall – now that’s a vibe we can get behind!

2. Get some aromatherapy with essential oils

For some, the addition of an essential oil diffuser running quietly in a corner can be a major mood uplifter that inspires both calm and creativity. These days, essential oil diffusers also come in a wide variety of styles and colours, which allow you to find the perfect match for your space’s look and feel.

If diffuser sticks are not your thing, or you’re looking for something with a bit more visual finesse, aromatherapy candles made with essential oils can also help make your space come alive with the warm glow of candle flame.

3. Incorporate some flowers and plants in every corner

It’s no secret that fresh flowers and living plants instantly uplift the energy of a space. Not only do they breathe life into the very air, the gentle colour palettes of these natural decorations are guaranteed to inspire wellness and positivity across all dimensions: physical, emotional, and spiritual.

Even if you don’t have a green thumb or the readiness to commit to keeping a living thing, other natural elements like shells and rocks can also help to elevate your mood and energy. You could also consider using a stone design tile like ZR Ragno to create the same connection with nature!

4. Add some inspiring artwork and charming décor

If you have a bare feature wall, it could be the perfect opportunity to hang up a piece of artwork or charming décor that inspires you or brings you joy when you look at it.

Your choices are not limited to what you can hang on a wall either: sometimes what you need to really tie the place together is a nice tasteful rug, which not only adds colour and texture, but also helps to dampen the harsh echoes and soften up the entire space.

5. Enhance the aura with natural light

While dim interiors are great for creating a calm and serene environment, too much of it could make you feel sluggish and moody. For a boost of positive energy that also helps to cheer you up, ensure that your windows can also be uncovered to let in mood-boosting sunlight, and where you can’t, add some lamps and lighting fixtures or even mirrors that would help to brighten up your space.

For a subtle way to boost available light without spending a fortune on mirrors, you could also try using polished tiles, which not only help maximize available light but also help your interiors look great!
