As the name implies, the neoclassical style that emerged around the 18th century was actually a revival of the classical style (the “neo-” in the name meaning “new”) of Ancient Rome and Greece, adapting the strong, sturdy symmetrical of the old style along with its fine detailing and adding its own embellishments in the form of new materials and more refined craftsmanship, resulting in the elegant look we love to feast our eyes upon.
