One of the rooms in your home you are sure to visit at least once a day is the bathroom – making it a worthwhile thing to really invest in your experience there. And when it comes to enhancing the whole look and feel of a place, lighting is king.
From idle relaxing in the shower to highly focused tasks like shaving, there is a surprising number of things we do in the bathroom, and each has different lighting requirements. For this article, we’ll consider the lighting needed for each area:

Shower
While some are not especially particular about the lighting in the shower, there are individuals on both ends of the spectrum who prefer their shower to be bright or dim. Whichever type you are, our only recommendation for the shower is that you can see where you step and what you are doing.

Bath / Whirlpool
When you draw up a bath or start up a whirlpool, the first thing in your mind is most likely a relaxing mood – so for the bath area, we would recommend the warmest lighting that you can find mounted overhead and set dim. This creates a calming and romantic mood for the area, where you can unwind and soak your worries away.

Vanity
Finally, for the sink and mirror area, what you will need is a strong light that helps you focus on what you are doing. You would want to avoid overhead lighting here, as it would cast shadows over your face. Instead, consider hanging lights by the mirror or LED strips around its edges, which would give you balanced and clear illumination to help you put your face on (or take it off).

Water Closet
For the water closet, there are again individuals on both sides of the spectrum who prefer light over dark, or dark over light – and again it’s to each their own. But something that would improve your experience here is the installation of a nightlight where your water closet is, which helps you find your way in the dark for those middle-of-the-night visits.
