You may have seen this friendly-looking water droplet
accompanying some of our products. If you didn’t know, this is the official
label issued under the Water Efficient Product Labelling Scheme (WEPLS for
short) by the National
Water Services Commission (SPAN), which helps inform customers on the water
efficiency of various products that make use of water efficient technologies.
Each label comes with some useful information regarding
the brand, model, and registration number of the respective products they come
on, but the most important information are the stars above the water droplet. With
a maximum rating of 3 stars, these are what the stars mean:
1 Star: Efficient
2 Stars: Highly Efficient
3 Stars: Most Efficient
Not all products that use water use it at the same rate –
which is why under WEPLS, each product type has its own definition of what
constitutes “efficient”, “highly efficient”, and “most efficient”. For example,
under the water closet category, products that consume ≤6.0 litres per full flush is
only given 1 star (Efficient), while products that consume ≤4.0 litres per full flush,
such as many of Orin’s
water closets, are awarded 3 stars (Most Efficient).
Presently, the WEPLS label is available for taps and
mixers on sinks, showers, and ablutions, as well as for water closets, urinal
equipment, showerheads, and washing machines. Keep an eye out on this page
should any additional categories be added to the list!
